There’s a constant search for the silver-bullet to fight cancer. You can understand why so many people believe that big pharma already have the cures, patented and locked away. Why use a silver bullet to eradicate a patient’s cancer? If you can stretch their treatment out over months, years you’ll make more money. Whether it’s the patient him / herself who’s paying for the treatment, an insurance company or the government the pharmaceutical company doesn’t care, as long as they can extort as much money as they can along the way.
Don’t get me wrong, pharmaceutical companies need a return on their R&D but you’d be a fool to think that they work towards remedies with a purely altruistic intention. You just have to look at the pharmaceutical company who was looking to sue the UK’s NHS service because they wanted to use a cheaper drug to treat blindness.
Reading this morning that holistic doctors are being ‘offed’ because of their promotion of a potentially new and very effective treatment for cancer and a host of other diseases is a sad indictment of the world we live in today where the almighty dollar is king.
How true does this ring from 1 Timothy : “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.”
